Actor Colin Farrell son: James is suffering from Angelman syndrome, so I want the world to be good towards him Colin Farrell has announced he will be establishing a foundation named after his son, James who suffers from a rare ailment referred to as Angelman’s syndrome.
James, who turns 21 next month, is mute and was diagnosed with a neurological disorder at an early age.
In an interview, the Irish actor disclosed that he is releasing Colin Farrell Foundation which would offer support for grown-up children having intellectual disabilities problems through advocacy programs including education and innovative campaigns.
This is the first time I have spoken of it and obviously, there is no way of asking James if he wants me to say anything about it or not.
Regarding this issue, Colin Farrell said his son together with similar individuals should be more independent in life as well as in their societies because they deserve it.
The Dubliner became emotional during his interview as he remembered the earliest steps he took right before James turned four, and stated that it was a magical moment.
If James had realized that taking a picture with me in the backyard—a thing I didn’t enjoy doing—could help families or other young adults who live with disabilities, he would have said, ‘Father what are you talking about? Why are you asking me? It’s not a difficult question, he said.
That’s why we’re doing it’ he said. All because of James –all in his name.
He also announced last month that he would take part in the Dublin marathon which will be happening in October this year to honour Emma Fogarty, her longest-living person in Ireland with a life-threatening skin disorder called EBS (Extreme Bullous Epidermolysis).
‘Emma Run to 40 which celebrates Laois woman’s 40th birthday,’ will see Emma joining her for the final stage on a wheel-chair.
