She made many viral videos in the days that followed demonstrating how to do even simple things such as eating, manicuring and applying cologne in “a very demure manner.” In addition, this, did the internet go on to use TikTok and Instagram’s “template” feature.
How many followers Lebron has gained since the trend went viral is uncertain, but she said it had ‘changed her life’.
According to a video for her 1.4 million followers, Lebron who is transgender and prefers she/her pronouns will now be able to finish paying for her transition due to her newfound fame.
“One day I was playing cashier and making videos on my break, and now I’m flying across the country to host events,” she added.
What does the word “demure” mean in actuality?
From Merriam-Webster, demure is an adjective which means “affectedly modest, reserved or serious.”
Lebron uses “demure” as a term of endearment for herself when she is engaged in her daily chores and at times he will add “I am not like you other girls”.
Whenever she says that she is doing something in a very demure way, often she adds other words like mindful, cutesy and considerate.
“You see how I do my makeup for work? Very demure, very mindful,” he said in a video posted on Aug, 5. “I don’t look like a clown when I come to work. I don’t do too much. I’m very mindful while I’m at work.”
Is this serious or just another prank?
From fellow TikTok creators and the rest of the Internet, including stars like Kim Kardashian, it looks like everyone is in on the joke. But did the demure trend start out that way?
Lebron has said she was “obviously” joking in her videos, but that not everyone got the irony.
She also revealed that her original joke about not going to work with “green glitter cut crease” makeup was a jab at something she had done.
Most of the people who have made their own “demure” videos have understood Lebron’s intentions: making fun of something ironically.
Some accounts are also using this to highlight issues as far-ranging as mental illness to voting rights.
The movement even jumped into politics recently and even ran for president.
